The story of Souq Naif's Serdab in one place
An online magazine and guide dedicated to the Serdab of Souq Naif in Mubarakiya. We document its shops, styles, offers and news — to be the first reference for anyone looking for an abaya in Kuwait.
Read our storySerdab Al Abayat was born from a real love for this place: a small basement under Souq Naif that gathers Kuwait's most established abaya shops.
We noticed that many visitors get lost in the corridors, unsure where to find the cut or fabric they want — and that remarkable shops had no online presence worthy of them.
So we decided to build a guide and a magazine at once: we visit the shops ourselves, photograph the styles, document locations and hours, and write about everything abaya in a friendly, trustworthy voice.
سرداب العبايات
From an old market to the abaya capital
Souq Naif begins
Souq Naif grew near the historic Naif Palace and became a hub for fabric and clothing trade in old Kuwait City.
The Serdab opens
The market's lower floor turned into corridors of tailoring and fabric shops, known as "the Serdab".
The abaya capital
Most shops specialized in abayas and tailoring, and the Serdab became the first destination for hand-embroidered Kuwaiti abayas.
Serdab Al Abayat
The launch of the first online reference dedicated to the Serdab, in Arabic and English.
